I have to apologise to our Race Fans, as I am a
little behind on my updates; anyway better late than never.
We have now recovered from the race at Brands Hatch, yes I know we have just been to Oulton Park. However, the race at Brands was a bit of a farce and it seemed to be over after the first pit stop. It seems, allegedly, that the Officials were operating to a different set of rules to everyone else (we were led to believe after the event that these were the European Endurance Regulations) and held up those who chose to take advantage of the Safety Car being out during the Pit Window at the end of the Pit Lane. Then on top of that there seemed to be a problem with the timing equipment, which did not help. Paul was in and out of the 'Clerk of Course' office so many times that they had reserved him his own space at the desk!! (One more visit and they would have given him a free shirt). Out of those who finished, we were declared 9th and despite a brave protest the result was declared official. I have now updated the Picture Gallery with Photos from Brands Hatch. I will endeavour to get the Oulton Park pictures on soon. They will be worth a look as we had some very lovely ladies around the Pits and on the Start Grid (Apart from Helen, Anne and Kate that is!!), just like F1!!! |

The latest round of the Fun Cup was held at
Snetterton on 4th August, but we could only manage 8th place after a series
of problems held us up in the pits. We were 3rd fastest in the morning
during the qualifying session, so we know what the Car and Drivers are
capable of. Unfortunately we were drawn 18th on the grid and had a couple of
problem's during the pit stops and we never made up the time.
I have updated the photo gallery with some cracking pictures (even if I say so myself!) from this weekends meeting. |

| 14 -Jun 07 - | Fun Cup
Rounds 3 and 4 were held at Mondello Park on 9th/10th Jun 07. We had a
fantastic weekend, the weather was scorching the Guinness was cold and we
rounded off Paul's Birthday with a Podium finish on Sunday. There were 28
Cars on the Grid and we finished 8th on Saturday and 3rd on Sunday, what a
Birthday Celebration Paul had that day! The Car only suffered
superficial damage throughout the weekends racing, but we did lose the left
side of the splitter; the first in 14 months of racing!!! Check out the Photo Gallery, I have updated it with pictures from the two Croft Races. Photos from Mondello Park to follow soon. | 17 May 07 - | A
better late than never! First race meeting of the 2007 season was held
at Croft on 5-6 May, this being a double header and this year it was pretty
much a dry affair. We finished 8th in the Race on the Saturday and on
the same lap as the winner, after starting in Pole position; Massimo
got a flier of the start grid! We also took the prize for "Team of the
Day", this being awarded for the highest finisher never to have got on the
podium before.
Sunday saw us attain 4th place after the 2 hour point, having starting 17th on the grid; only to find out that our fuel strategy had been a tad to tight. Yep, you guessed it we ran out of fuel. By the time we got the Car recovered and filled with fuel we were down to 21st place and eventually finished 20th. website has been updated with the details of this years events; see
the Event Calendar and Drives pages for details. I have also updated the
History page and done a bit of maintenance on the website generally.
Keep an eye out in the very near future as I am also going to update the
Photo Gallery with some more of last years happy snaps; mainly Croft as that
page is a bit bare! The Car has just about completed its winter maintenance program and will be ready in time for a forth coming track day on 14th April 2007. Watch out for details to be announced soon! |

| 13 Nov 06 - | Timings for TV Coverage of the last race of the season at Oulton Park have been announced. Coverage will start on Thurs 16th Nov 06 at 7pm on SKY Sports 3. There will be replays on SKY Sports 3, 2 and xtra throughout Thursday evening, Friday and Saturday morning. | |
| 8 Oct 06 - | Team Whirlybird finished in 9th place at Oulton Park on Sat 7th Oct 06. This was after ending up near the back of the 24 starters when Massimo spun in the front runners at the beginning of the race. Great driving, a brave fuel strategy and good Pit stops saw the team make up the time during the four hour race, to give the them a reasonable finish at the end of the season. A Photo gallery has been added for this event, this will hopefully be added to when and if I get some more photos in from the rest of the team. Meanwhile, please keep an eye on this page for more news throughout the winter. | |

| 3 Sept 06 - | Whirlybird finish 13th at the 3hr race at Brands Hatch on Saturday 2 Sept 06. The weather stayed reasonable good for the race, just the odd spot of rain here and there, which was not what was expected! I will update the gallery once all my photographs have been sorted out, hopefully by the next weekend, so keep an eye out for that! The next race is our last for this season, this is a 4 hour race at Oulton Park on 7th October. | |

| 11 July 06 - | Team Whirlybird
completed the 25hr endurance race at Spa-Francourchamps in Belgium for the
fourth year. This year the car completed the race without a scratch,
we did not even loose a splitter. However, three and a bit hours into
the Race we blew the cooling system header tank and Head Gasket, after
losing the fan belt. Two hours later we were back in the race and
completed the 25hrs with nothing more than routine stops for fuel, driver
changes, brake pads and tyres. All in all this was another great team
effort and I would like to say a special thanks to the drivers for bringing
the car through it all safe and sound.
This year we Qualified in 66th position out of 155 cars, thanks to Massimo. When the cooling system blew we were in 46th and rejoined the race in 125th after fixing it, we then went on to finish in 96th position; not a bad result all things considered. |

| 23 May 06 - | We finish a good 7th and 10th respectively in the double header at Croft this last weekend, due to having the STIG on the team. The race on the Saturday was a little damp and the circuit was a tad slippery, but Sunday's 3hr race was completed in torrential rain and so we were more than pleased to finish at all, never mind 10th. Someone was definitely watching over us this weekend as the Car finished both races without a hiccup or a single scratch, even after doing a few pirouettes and cutting the grass!! I have updated the photo gallery, but there is only the race report on it at the moment, I will update it with photos when I have some. Many thanks to Céline, Massimo's girlfriend, for being our photographer for the weekend; some of the shots we have already previewed are brilliant!! | |
| 17 May 06 - | My apologies for the lack of updates, this was due to my laptop being away for repair and the fact that I was extremely busy repairing the Car after a shunt at Snetterton. We had a DNF at Snetterton on the 8th April due to being wiped out by RSR after approximately 2 1/2 hours of the the race. I have updated the Gallery with some pictures, unfortunately the TV coverage was last week; so there is no point in putting the dates for that up. | |

| 13 Oct 05 - | The last race of the season went very well at Rockingham last Weekend. The Team finished 9th out of 21 starters after a shaky qualifying session where the Car was 2 seconds a lap slower than it should have been. A change to the set-up was made and a much improved Car started the race after being draw out of the hat first for the grid positions, this made us Tail End Charlie on the Start Grid. The Photo Gallery will be updated soon, the new colour scheme for the car can be seen above. A big thank you to Massimo's girlfriend, Céline, who took the photo. | |
| 05 Oct 05 - | After a long break, many hours spent in the Garage and a couple of trips up to JPR in Macclesfield, Car 109 emerges in it's shiny new colour scheme already for another outing on the circuit at Rockingham this weekend. Paul and I would like to thank Anne and Helen for their patience and understanding, without this it would not have been possible to get the Car out before next season. | |
| 22 Jul 05 - | Photo Gallery updated with photos from Spa 25hr Race Weekend. TV coverage of the 25hr Fun Cup Race at Spa will be aired on the 11th and 18th Aug, this will be on 'RaceWorld' as usual: Times not known at present. The Car is currently undergoing a rebuild after the high speed spill at Spa and Helen has told Pete that he will go on Holiday, so unfortunately this means we have had to cancel our entry at Croft over the Bank Holiday in August. | 13 Jul 05 - | Whirlybird finish 113th out of 130+ at Spa-Francourchamps 25hr Race last weekend after a major crash on lap 28 causes some major damage.
